BDSM Test · A private reading

Find the shape of what you want.

A three-minute reading that maps your intimate landscape across eight dimensions — and, if you choose, privately compares it with a partner's. Most people arrive here searching for a BDSM test. What you'll find is something more spacious.

What you receive

A reading,
not a label.

Your result unfolds as a portrait — a long-form reading that names your primary and secondary leanings, traces how your dimensions relate, and offers a vocabulary you can actually use with a partner.

  • Your primary and secondary archetype, with shape and tone.
  • An eight-dimensional radar — Sensory, Emotional, Dominant, Receptive, and four more.
  • A long-form interpretation written to be read, not scored.
  • Three conversation starters tuned to your result.

The Muse

Primary · With a secondary of The Weaver

Your desires take the shape of inspiration and atmospheric connection. You are deeply responsive to texture, environment, and the unspoken language of shared space.

For you, intimacy is not merely physical — it is a cultivated landscape where anticipation and aesthetic resonance matter just as much as the act itself. You thrive when a partner recognizes your subtle cues and orchestrates a scene that allows you to fully inhabit the moment.

What distinguishes the Muse from its neighbors is a particular relationship to time. Where The Weaver builds through ritual and The Devotee surrenders into arrival, the Muse lingers in the pre-arrival — in the charged atmospheric quality of a room before anything has happened…

The process

Three minutes. Something that stays with you.

01

Answer thirty questions.

Each one is a scenario, not a checkbox. You choose what resonates — on a five-point scale, in the language of real intimacy. No crudeness. No quiz tropes.

Sample questionWhen setting the mood for an evening, what feels most natural to you?
02

Receive your portrait.

Your eight-dimensional shape. Your primary and secondary archetype. A long-form reading in grown-up prose — written to stay with you, not to be shared as a score.

03

Invite a partner — if you want.

Send a one-time private link. They take their own reading. The only thing either of you will ever see is the intersection — the desires you both share.

Privacy promiseSingle-leaning preferences are never revealed — to either of you.

Why this reads differently

Four commitments that shape every line of this product.

01 · Dimensional

Shapes, not boxes.

Your desires live on a spectrum. We map where you fall across eight dimensions rather than dropping you into one of twenty-five fixed labels. The result is a portrait — more like a fingerprint than a type.

02 · Private

Built for your eyes only.

No account needed. Results live in your browser unless you choose to save them. The partner feature uses one-time links and end-to-end encrypted intersection math — we can't see who wanted what.

03 · Grown-up

Literate, not clinical or crude.

The language is the whole product. Every sentence is written for a reader who takes their inner life seriously. No dungeon vocabulary. No textbook distance. No influencer cutesiness.

04 · Research-informed

Built on psychometric principles.

The instrument uses Likert scaling, dimensional weighting, and a test-retest reliability target above 0.85. The interpretive layer is refined with input from somatic and relational practitioners.

A full methodology document — dimensions, scoring, reliability data — is available on request. We believe a product asking for this kind of honesty owes transparency in return.

For couples

Two readings.
One shared landscape.

The hardest part of a relationship isn't wanting different things — it's not knowing where you already agree. Send a partner a private link. Each of you reads your own portrait. Then we show you — and only you — the overlap.

Only the intersection is revealed.

A desire held by only one of you stays invisible to the other — always.

No accounts. No email capture.

The link carries the reading. Neither of you has to register.

Conversation starters tuned to your overlap.

Three questions you can actually ask over dinner, written for what you already share.

In their words

From people who found something unexpected in their own reading.

I expected a quiz. I got a paragraph that made me cry in a good way. It named something I couldn't.

Eight years married and this was the first tool that let us talk about the overlap without making either of us feel strange. We actually laughed.

Brooklyn · Used the couple overlap
I've taken every test on the internet. This one is the first that didn't make me feel like I was being branded. It felt — and I don't say this lightly — literary.

Frequently asked

Questions we hear often.

Is this a BDSM test?
Yes, in the sense that it covers the terrain people search for with that term — and no, in the sense that we think the category deserves better vocabulary. The reading covers dominant/receptive dynamics, sensory orientation, emotional pacing, and six other dimensions. What you receive is written to be read, not scored.
How long does it take?
The core reading is thirty questions — about three minutes. The full deep reading is seventy — about eight minutes. You can pause and return; progress stays in your browser.
Is my data private?
Yes. No account is required. By default, answers live in your browser's local storage — not on our servers. The partner feature uses one-time links; the overlap is computed such that neither of us can see which desires came from which person. Our full privacy policy is linked in the footer.
Do I need my partner to create an account?
No. You generate a private link, send it to them, they take their own reading. That's the whole flow. Nobody signs up for anything.
What if my partner doesn't want to do this?
That's a completely valid answer in itself. The reading is designed to be useful alone — many readers take it for self-understanding and never invite anyone. If a partner isn't ready, respect that; your own portrait still stands as yours.
Is this based on real research?
The instrument is built on standard psychometric principles — Likert-scale responses, dimensional weighting, test-retest reliability targets. The interpretive language is developed with input from somatic and relational practitioners. We publish our methodology; write to us if you'd like the detailed document.
What if the result doesn't feel right?
Read the secondary archetype — often what registers as "not quite me" is that your primary and secondary are closely balanced, and the reading is optimizing around the dominant shape. You can retake the deep reading at any time; people often report that a second pass (after sitting with the first) lands differently.
Who is behind this?
A small independent team. We built this because we wanted something we could share with our own partners without embarrassment — something grown-up, thoughtful, and genuinely useful. You can write to us at hello@bdsmtest.co; we read everything.

Ready to see what emerges?

Three minutes. No account. The reading is yours to keep — or forget. Most people, once they've read theirs, want to read their partner's.
